Adding Windows to End Walls

While the deck and main floor are drying, you can add the windows to the end walls.

Flip the end wall over so the smooth side is facing up (and the siding is face down). We'll be inserting the windows and doors from the back side of the wall.

Insert each window so the adhesive backing is up. This will be used to hold the glass to the back of the window.

Note: You may prefer to change the order of these steps and apply the window and door frames before inserting the windows into the back. It's your choice.

Flip the wall over so the siding is face up. You'll add the window and door frames in this step.

Note: If you look very closely at the door, you'll notice there is a small dot for the door knob. You'll want to make sure this is on the right side, as shown here.

Use a hobby knife to pry up one end of the adhesive backing from a corner of the window frame. Then remove the entire adhesive backing.

Use some tweezers to place the window frame onto the wall, but don't press it down just yet. You'll want to push it around until it's centered on the window opening before you press it firmly down.
After you've installed and adjusted the position of each frame, gently press down along the edges to firmly attach the adhesive to the wall.
Next turn the wall over again and gently press the window against the frame. Only press along the outside of the window where it touches the frame on the other side. This will firmly attach the window to the window frame.
Use a knife to pry a corner of the adhesive backing free, then remove the adhesive backing from the back of the window.
Finally apply the window glass from the back. Then press gently along the edge of the glass to bond it with the adhesive on the back of the window.

Repeat the above steps for the other wall. Now you're ready to move onto the next step: adding a second floor for the inside of the cabin.
