This is a great kit to get started building laser-cut kits. It consists of just nine parts and can be assembled very quickly. An experienced modeler might assemble this kit in just five minutes, whereas a novice can easily finish the kit in just half an hour. Special alignment slots are laser-etched where parts connect. Simply glue one part into the correct slot on the other part, resulting in perfect alignment every time. This style of picnic table has been around for years, and can be found in many places: in back yards, on decks, next to warehouses (used by employees on their break), in playgrounds, in town parks, and in parks in the woods. Parks and playgrounds typically have a number of picnic tables, and also park benches. In case you're interested in how we designed this kit, we wrote an article called The Making of a Laser-Cut Kit. Ideas for placementThere are many places where you could put picnic tables on your layout, which is why we've created kits with more than one table per kit. Here are some of the potential locations:

Related ProductsWe're very proud of our all-wood laser-cut picnic table kit and think it's a very good product. But in case it doesn't meet your needs exactly, we're aware of some examples from other manufactures. Micro Structures has an etched-brass kit (#944 in N scale) that is basically the same design as our picnic table. There are two differences. First, since their kit is etched brass, the material is a scale 1.6" thick, whereas ours is a scale 3.2" thick. The prototype is usually around 2" thick. Our kit, however, has the boards cut all the way through, providing a more realistic appearance. B.T.S. offers a laser-cut picnic table and benches in HO scale, where the benches are separate from the picnic table. They also offer some very nice laser-cut chairs in HO, S, and O scale that would go well with our picnic table behind a house. You'll also find some board fence that could be used to enclose a back yard with one of our picnic tables. |
